Preparation Methods

Survey

Our detailed survey will recommend the most appropriate surface cleaning and preparation methods and equipment to use for your project. The following is a brief overview of the different mechanical floor preparation techniques and the equipment available:

Mechanical Grinding

With efficient vacuum extraction and different grinding heads this type of machine is widely used to grind and prepare uneven floor areas leaving a uniformed un-profiled finish, and is most effective in removing old residues of elastomeric coatings, bituminous material or flexible / elastic adhesive residues, such as those used for some floor tiles or vinyl products.

Mechanical Blast cleaning / Vacuum Blast cleaning

Modern high performance and very efficient machines with integral vacuum collection of the dust and waste, they include the use of recoverable steel shot, meaning that the process is very fast, clean and controllable, plus it is now almost completely dust free.

Due to the partially magnetic recycling process, the abrasive used in these modern machines is rounded steel shot, rather than non-magnetic slag, grit or sand.

Available for hire:

Small machines

With a 200mm to 250mm wide enclosed head that can prepare approximately 50m²/hour.

Medium machines

Capable of preparing over 100m²/hour (NB. these require a 3 phase electrical supply).

Large ride-on machines

Are available for very large areas.

Line Markings

We can supply 50mm x 50m (1.96in x 164ft) Orgatex LongLife Floor Markings. They are fork-lift resistant, skid resistant and have outstanding adhesive strength with little or no residue upon removal. We believe these are the finest floor markings available on the market today.
