Over 60 years of experience…

1950’s

Where our story begins. A 14-year-old boy, Eamonn O’Neill, left his home town Dublin, Ireland, to seek work in England. He and his family settled in Wolverhampton where he still lives to this day.

1960’s

Eamonn started working as a painter and decorator for Butlers Brewery in the early sixties where his talent for organising and running of the jobs was soon noticed by senior management. Within 12 months Eamonn became the main contract manager which enabled his talent for business to be fully developed. He was head hunted by West Midland Painting to become their Area Manager, which Eamonn successfully undertook for 3 three years. However, Eamonn’s inner need (to work for himself) became too strong and he started this is when he started his own company.

1970’s

With painting contracts nationwide and Europe, E.O’Neill Painting & Decorating became a well known name within the industry.

1980’s

The company introduced general maintenance to its list of services and it’s customers IMI Marston, Good Years Tyre Company, ESSO and GULF OIL enabled Eamonn to show his full talent for running and growing a successful business.

1990’s

Under the direction of Eamonn, the company won many prestigious contracts such as RAC Tower in Bristol, and the 1992 Olympic Games contract for painting the Hotel Villa Olympia in Barcelona. 1992 also saw work undertaken at Rover Longbridge for DURRS (Warwick) and in 1996 work began on a four-year contract for DURRS to paint the New Paint shop at Jaguar Cars, Castle Bromwich. Aston Martin and BMW also became new clients.

2000’s

The company continued working closely with Jaguar Cars, Land Rover, Aston Martin and BMW on various sized projects across the country, and were the proud winners of the Johnstones Painter of the Year in 2000 and were highly recommended for the award on 4 other occasions.

The Present Day

Eamonn’s only son, Mark, had worked for his dad since leaving school with grit and determination. Mark showed a similar talent to his father and also had a keen eye for business. Mark proudly gained a BSc (hons) in Construction Management in 2000 and took an active role in the family business. Eamonn still plays an active role in the business – sharing his knowledge and experience when required, and the company has expanded its scope of work to undertake commercial and industrial refurbishments.
